Understanding Scottish Rite Degree Of Freemasonry

The Scottish Rite is one of several Rites of Freemasonry and it is a progressive series of degrees conferred by various Masonic organizations. The group is the largest and the most widely practiced Masonic Rite among other groups in the fraternity. A series of moral lessons are taught by the Scottish rite that is a part of Master Mason’s education system.

Scottish Rite and its responsibilities

For centuries, Scottish Rite continues to be an active group in Freemasonry. The members of the group take part as speakers at meetings, leaders in conferences, and creators of Scottish Rite Research Society. They also take an important role in publishing Scottish Rite journals and Masonic books.

How to join the Scottish Rite

The Scottish Rite degrees are originated in France and you don’t need to be a Scottish to become the members. You can apply for the membership as a candidate by consulting an existing Mason. There is an assumption that Scottish Rite is a secret society, which is not true.

Important facts to know

Freemasonry and it's tributary groups operate in the open. They let the public know when an important event comes up. Some people also think Scottish Rite is a religion. This is a far fetched assumption than reality. Freemasonry has a secular nature and each member is required to believe in a Supreme Being.
